Julia Wilk is a photographer with additional interests in various multimedia art forms. She grew up with a pencil in her hand and understands the importance of analyzing every small detail in a drawing. She has carried this attention to detail with her and translates it directly into her photography. Julia plans to expand her love for photography from portraits to weddings and memorable events. She believes firmly that every moment is only experienced once, but lived forever through the lens of a camera.

Julia was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but raised in upstate New York, where she studied at Hudson Valley Community College and received an Associate of Science degree in Digital Media. When she is not working or exploring her artistic mind, one will find her on top of a mountain somewhere.

Artist Statement

My creative work explores the different relationships between the natural world exactly how it is and certain controlled chaos applied by my hand. I enjoy a variety of media that have stemmed from my love for sketching and photography, including video and digital imaging. My photography and drawings are raw, attempting to lock the moment in time exactly the way it was, detail for detail. My other media take my focus on realism and add ordered abstraction to explore possible beauty beyond what the eye can physically see. I heavily value detail in my work: the way certain light can make someone’s eye sparkle in a photo, the way a touch of color can bring a design to life, and the way one more pencil stroke adds a detail that existed in real life.
